Not a suffix

[edit]

(Notifying Matthias Buchmeier, -sche, Atitarev, Jberkel, Mahagaja, Fay Freak): While mentioning the form -tümer may be of use in the article -tum, it is certainly not a suffix. Brauchtümer is not Brauch + -tümer but rather (Brauch + -tum) + -er. — Fytcha T | L | C 12:53, 8 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

I've changed it to a suffix form, though the usefulness of the entry still eludes me. —Mahāgaja · talk 12:56, 8 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
Meh. Semi-relevant discussion is at Talk:-innen, in particular that we should probably decide this on a site- or language-wide basis, rather than case by case, since there are lots of examples. I do think that whenever a suffix has a certain plural form (or small number of them), we should mention that in its entry, like German -in mentions -innen (with its otherwise-unexpectable extra n) and English -ium should (perhaps more prominently) mention the otherwise-unexpectable -ia (along with -iums, why not?)... but whether we need actual entries for English -iums (we don't currently have one) or -tümer, I dunno, but again, it'd probably be better to make a general rule than RFD them piecemeal... - -sche (discuss) 16:00, 8 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
