Hokkien and Hakka

[edit]

@TongcyDai, Mar vin kaiser Were the readings here inferred? — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 17:44, 28 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Justinrleung I just referenced the pronunciation of 語言 and 聯盟 respectively. I did not find a specific pronunciation for "語言聯盟" as a whole term, but as a native speaker of Taiwanese Hokkien, I believe the pronunciation of its two parts is relatively fixed (in a given region, there is usually only one pronunciation without variations such as 文讀 and 白讀, except for Zhangzhou biân-bêng). Considering that this term is academic and formal, combining the pronunciations of its parts directly should be reasonable. TongcyDai (talk) 04:57, 29 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
@TongcyDai: I think it should maybe only have Taiwanese Hokkien for now. Zhangzhou has both liân-bêng and biân-bêng readings, and it's not clear to me whether both readings would apply here. I don't have a strong stance against the other Hokkien varieties being here, but in general, I don't think we should propogate pronunciations based on its parts. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 05:29, 29 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
