Readings
[edit]@Wpi31 Just wondering if you have sources for all the pronunciation variants you've added, especially the gwik1 readings. — justin(r)leung { (t...) | c=› } 17:03, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- @justinrleung: I just copied those from yue:虢礫緙嘞, the variation in kaak1 laak1/kaa1 laak1/kaa1 laa1 should be common, but the only source I found for gwik1 is yue.wikt, presumably because the literary reading of 虢 is gwik1. There are some recorded ones, such as [1], but it seems to be taking the pronunciation+characters directly from yue.wikt without checking.
- Also from [2] one comment said they pronounce it as kwik1 lik1 kwaak1 laak1, so I guess it's probably more likely for kw than gw?-- Wpi31 (talk) 03:27, 20 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Wpi31: I don't think any of the gwik1 pronunciations actually exist. The video is not really using it in context, so it seems like they're reading it based on a particular source's supposed reading (be it yue.wikt or some other site). I'm also not sure if the kaa1 laa1 pronunciations should be included unless you have good evidence for them. 廣州話方言詞典 and 廣州話普通話詞典 have kwik1 lik1 kwaak1 laak1, and 实用广州话分类词典 has kwik1 lik1 kwaak1 laak1 and kik1 lik1 kwaak1 laak1. I personally would probably say kik1 lik1 kaak1 laak1, and this is also recorded by words.hk. @RcAlex36, what are your thoughts? — justin(r)leung { (t...) | c=› } 03:38, 20 July 2022 (UTC)
- I kind of feel like the last syllable has to end in the coda -k. RcAlex36 (talk) 14:56, 20 July 2022 (UTC)
