- @Mlgc1998, Mar vin kaiser: I think for bataw, 肉豆 might be a more likely etymon because it refers to the hyacinth bean (according to various Taiwanese sources, e.g. 臺灣植物名彙, 臺日大辭典, Embree's 臺英辭典, Maryknoll and 臺灣閩南語常用詞辭典). The only issue is that it may not be used in Quanzhou, though that could mean that the word might have been borrowed into Tagalog way earlier. — justin(r)leung { (t...) | c=› } 09:35, 22 November 2020 (UTC)
