Which Character 唔 or 毋
[edit]@Justinrleung So looking at the dialectal module of 錯 for Teochew, 唔 is used, while the entry here 毋對 uses 毋. Same thing for Taiwanese Hokkien. The module uses 唔, while the entry uses 毋著 uses 毋. Which should it be? --Mar vin kaiser (talk) 07:17, 17 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Mar vin kaiser: I think it should be 唔 for Teochew and 毋 for Hokkien for now. — justin(r)leung { (t...) | c=› } 07:44, 17 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Mar vin kaiser: And if you were talking about Hakka, it should probably be 唔? — justin(r)leung { (t...) | c=› } 07:45, 17 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Justinrleung: It seems that Taiwan is using 毋, and I guess Mainland China is using 唔 for Hakka. --Mar vin kaiser (talk) 07:57, 17 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Mar vin kaiser: Yes, that's what the norms/standards are, but I think 唔 is also used sometimes by Taiwanese Hakka. I'm not sure how common 毋 in Mainland China. The Hakka 唔 is definitely cognate with Cantonese 唔. — justin(r)leung { (t...) | c=› } 08:03, 17 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Mar vin kaiser, Justinrleung: I'm also pretty sure that Hokkien 毋 and Teochew 唔 are cognates, though I'm not sure if they are cognate with Cantonese 唔. The dog2 (talk) 03:27, 18 December 2020 (UTC)
- @The dog2: Yeah, that's the tricky part. Then there's also 伓 in other Min dialects, which should be related to Hokkien 毋 and Teochew 唔. — justin(r)leung { (t...) | c=› } 03:29, 18 December 2020 (UTC)
