Note: this character can be used in colloquial Cantonese to mean "to be" and is thus a synonym for the usual "shi".

Senses for trad. and simpl.

@Wyang "department" is 系 in both trad. and simple and 系 is really a simplified version of 係 only in the sense of "to relate", "to be", is it right? --Anatoli ^{(обсудить}/^вклад) 03:38, 19 May 2014 (UTC)

department is 系 in trad. 係 also means "to tie" (係獲, 係累), which simplifies to 系. Wyang (talk) 03:45, 19 May 2014 (UTC)

I have only removed definitions from Translingual but nothing from Chinese sections. I have added definitions to 系/繫 (jì) pair. Please add any missing to Chinese but not to Translingual. (from iPad). --Anatoli ^{(обсудить}/^вклад) 10:19, 19 May 2014 (UTC)
