For the relation of the Georgian and Laz senses compare Old Armenian լիսեռն (liseṙn), Armenian լիսեռ (liseṙ). Also Italian fusolo (“tibia”), from fuso (“spindle”). The basic meaning is probably "shaft", not "thigh, hip". --Vahag (talk) 15:42, 3 April 2022 (UTC)
- My reservations are actually due to Chukhua's gloss of Proto-Georgian-Zan rather than the connection itself; he also glossed it as "shank", "shin", I'm thinking that's a better gloss. By the way that was the official English translation of the title, which is why it's worded awkwardly because it's translated literally from Georgian. (But I don't like that title myself to be honest, it's annoying to look at) კვარია (talk) 15:48, 3 April 2022 (UTC)
