It is absolutely impossible Mingrelian ორინჯი/ორიჯი (orinǯi/oriǯi) to be derived from Armenian երինջ. ორიჯი/ორინჯი (ო-რი[ნ]-ჯ-ი) (oriǯi/orinǯi (o-ri[n]-ǯ-i)) - the root is რინ- (rin-) (to be) and the parallel forms, besides ორენჯი (orenǯi), are დარინალი, დარინაფალი, ორინაფალი, ორინალი, ორინუ (darinali, darinapali, orinapali, orinali, orinu) and the meaning is not the cattle only. The word is constructed like All they have parallel forms like ორცხონალი, ოთხოზინალი, ოჸუნალი/ოჸუნაფალი... (orcxonali, otxozinali, oʾunali/oʾunapali...) Cf.: 1) მარინჯი/მარენჯი (marinǯi/marenǯi) (someone viable, someone able to live); 2) Georgian საქონელი (სა-ქონ-ელ-ი) (sakoneli (sa-kon-el-i)) and სამყოფელი/სამყოფი (სა-მყოფ-ელ-ი/სა-მყოფ-ი) (samq̇opeli/samq̇opi (sa-mq̇op-el-i/sa-mq̇op-i)). @Abkhazian1, this is very interesting. I always suspected that the borrowing is in the other direction. I will come back to this later. In the meantime please use transliteration when writing in Georgian. Even though we invented your alphabet, it is difficult for me to read it. --Vahag (talk) 14:38, 3 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. I thought you could read Mashtots invention. :)) Unfortunately, I don't remember the title and author, but there was an article on Mingrelian borrowings into Armenian, where I read about ორინჯი (orinǯi) and "երինջ". Abkhazian1 (talk) 13:30, 5 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Abkhazian1, I have now edited the entry. I wonder if որոջ (oroǰ) and երէ (erē) too can be explained by this family of Kartvelian words. --Vahag (talk) 10:35, 21 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Vahagn Petrosyan, the first one (որոջ (oroǰ)) is quite possible, but the second one is a bit doubtful, if it is not somehow shortened form of something like hypothetical երէջ (erēǰ). --Abkhazian1 (talk) 11:32, 22 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
