Is it farfetched to assume that քուրջ (kʻurǰ, “Sack”) is actually the same word as քուրձ (kʻurj, “Sack”)? The meaning is almost the same (old cloth and sack-cloth that is worn), and the third consonant is where Semitic is varied too. Even the variant խորգ (xorg) is in the tolerance and mirrors Arabic varying between ك (k) and خ (ḵ). @Vahagn Petrosyan Fay Freak (talk) 13:03, 9 February 2019 (UTC)
- @Fay Freak, it is not far-fetched and in fact the comparison has been made by others (I added it). But the alternation ջ (ǰ) ~ ձ (j) cannot be explained within Armenian. It can be explained within Iranian: compare the etymon of գանձ (ganj) versus Persian گنج (ganǰ). --Vahag (talk) 13:51, 9 February 2019 (UTC)
