@Fay Freak, can the Arabic term be explained within Arabic? I find similar Semitic roots meaning "to be angry" and "to sully, defile". The Armenian Geoponica and Hyppiatry are translated from Arabic and contain many Arabic loanwords. This could be one of them. --Vahag (talk) 12:22, 11 March 2020 (UTC)

@Vahagn Petrosyan There is a طَاسَ (ṭāsa), present يَطِيسُ (yaṭīsu), “to be numerous, to be much”, so that its verbal noun طَيْس (ṭays) also means “much food or drink” and “much sand”, but nobody knows this root, likewise for طَاسَ (ṭāsa), present يَطُوسُ (yaṭūsu, “to tread, to trample; to bloom again after illness”), طُوس (ṭūs, “duration”). Perhaps from طَاوُوس (ṭāwūs, “peacock”), like English cock etc., otherwise I don’t know, this goes too deeply into dialects and perhaps terms not written. But the Armenian term suggests it is a retention of a term, since Arabic س (s) can be from Proto-Semitic š which regularly gives Arabic س (s) but שׁ (š) in the Semitic languages north of it.
