@Vahagn Petrosyan: The Payne-Smith col. 1050 they point to has it as “the same as ܚܘܪܒܐ (ḥōrḇā, “stork”)”, setting in parenthesis to it Ar. هُرْجُل (hurjul, “longis passibus incedens, qui marche à grandes enjambées, walking with unequal steps”) – which with the verb هَرْجَلَ (harjala) I would derive as augmented from هَرَجَ (haraja, “to be in commotion, to be in disorder”) –, because the other stork-word and formations from its root also mean devastation etc., and he also draws all to Proto-Semitic *rigl- (“foot”), and then based on other readings (because the lāmaḏ-ʾālap̄ could easily be just an ʾālap̄) the Syriac to Ancient Greek ἐρωγάς (erōgás), ἐρῳδιός (erōidiós, “heron”), suggesting that one might need to point ܗܪܳܓܳܐ (hərāḡā) in place of ܗܪܓܠܐ (hVr(V)gVlā). CAL has copied the information inaccurately. There is no meaning “stork” in Arabic. Fay Freak (talk) 13:27, 23 February 2020 (UTC)
