Etymology?

@Gnosandes: I see you've left the etymology as unknown. Isn't *grimati just an expressive derivative via lengthening from the 0-grade *grьmě̀ti? There are similar constructions with other roots of this sort: *bьrati → *sъbirati, *orzbirati, ...; *merti → *umirati; *stьlati → *zastilati, *nastilati; *teťi → *tičati; *reťi → *naricati, etc. 87.243.113.190 18:48, 9 December 2022 (UTC)
