[edit]Stem variant of Proto-Germanic *jakkōną, which possibly continues Pre-Germanic *Hyogʰneh₂- or *Hyh₂gʰneh₂-. If so, it could be connected with Sanskrit समीहते (samīhate, “to desire”).[1]
