[edit]Räsänen and Nişanyan suggest a derivation from *ȫ- (“to think, to be aware”) + *-ŕ. Nişanyan compares to Proto-Mongolic *öber, Doerfer suggests Mongolian өөр (öör) is a Turkic borrowing from the form *ȫŕe.
