[edit]Etymology
[edit]From *sъ- (“good”) + an obscure element *rět- with an epenthetic -s-, possibly from Proto-Balto-Slavic *wrēt- or *rēt-, also found in Proto-Slavic *obrěsti (“to find, encounter”). Cognate with Lithuanian surė̃sti (“to seize”).
