[edit]Inherited from Proto-Balto-Slavic [Term?], from Proto-Indo-European *kr̥ḱós (“thin, emaciated”). Cognates include Lithuanian kárńti (“to age”), Sanskrit कृश (kṛśa, “thin, lean”), Latin cracens (“slender”).
