Proto-Slavic
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Not entirely clear. Possibly related to Lithuanian graižùs (“deformed, awry”), grai̇̃žas (“rim”), Latvian greizs (“slant, crooked”).
Some dialectal forms seem to have merged with the descendants of Proto-Slavic *gręzь, *gręza (“sludge, grime, mess”).
