Proto-Sino-Tibetan

[edit]

Root

[edit]

*l-pəm

  1. to freeze

Reconstruction notes

[edit]
  • The reconstruction of an *l- pre-initial is inspired by Jacques's statement that the proto-rGyalrong initial should be reconstructed as *lp-. The final velar nasal in Chinese is due to dissimilation against the *p in the root.[1]

Descendants

[edit]
  • Chinese: (OC *p.rəŋ (B-S), ice) (see there for further descendants)
  • rGyalrongic:
  • Proto-Tani: *pam (snow)
