Proto-Permic

[edit]

Etymology

[edit]

From Proto-Uralic *-mte. Cognates include Proto-Finnic *-nci and Proto-Samic *-mtë.

Since all Proto-Permic numerals end in a consonant, the suffix always takes the postconsonantal form *-ät, rather than the supposed base form **-t.

Suffix

[edit]

*-ät (stem *-ätj-)

  1. Used to form ordinal numbers.
