[edit]From *smih₂ǵʰéslih₂ (“having one thousand”), from *smih₂ (the feminine of Proto-Indo-European *sm̥- (“one”)) and a nominalized feminine form of *ǵʰés-lo- (“heap”),[1] from *ǵʰes- (“hand”).
