Cognate to Ancient Greek ἐνέρτερος, νέρτερος (enérteros, nérteros, lower), Proto-Germanic *nurþraz (north), Sanskrit नरक (naraka, Hell), and Old Armenian ներքին (nerkʻin).[1]
