[edit]From Proto-Indo-European *dreh₂- (“to tread, walk, step, run”). Cognate with Sanskrit द्राति (drāti, “to run”) and Ancient Greek δρόμος (drómos, “running”). See also *trudaną (“to tread”).[1]
