[edit]From Proto-Indo-European *h₂roh₁dʰéyeti, from *Hreh₁dʰ- (“to think, arrange”). Equivalent to *rēdaną (“to decide, advise”) + *-janą. Cognate with Proto-Slavic *raditi.
