Proto-Finnic
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Borrowed from Proto-Indo-Iranian *daywás, from Proto-Indo-European *deywós. Alternatively less likely from Proto-Balto-Slavic *deiwás, but the vocalism matches Indo-Iranian better.
