[edit]From Proto-Indo-European *gʷow-sth₂-ó-, from *gʷṓws (“cow”) + *steh₂- (“to stand”). An exact cognate exists in Sanskrit गोष्ठ (goṣṭha, “(animal) stable”).[1]
