[edit]A partial calque of Mandarin 清明節 / 清明节 (Qīngmíngjié), using the Hanyu Pinyin romanization of the Mandarin pronunciation of Chinese 清明 (Qīngmíng, “Pure & Bright”), the solar term of the traditional Chinese lunisolar calendar on which the holiday is celebrated.
