Pächter usually refers to tenants of a piece of land (e.g., farmland, but also the land a residential property is built on), whole commercial buildings, petrol stations, and restaurants, taverns, inns, canteens, etc. Tenants of residential property and smaller commercial property are usually referred to as Mieter.
