Qionghai

[edit]

@The dog2 Source for Qionghai? — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 18:24, 20 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Justinrleung:You can hear in [1] at around 1:11. I know he's from Malaysia, but his grandparents were from Qionghai, so his Hainanese is based on the Qionghai accent. The dog2 (talk) 18:32, 20 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
@The dog2: It's likely the word used in Qionghai, but I don't think we should use this as a source. He clearly says in the song "不懂聽 聽不懂 海南話不相同"... That said, I found it in 琼北闽语词汇研究. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 18:40, 20 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hainanese

[edit]

@Justinrleung Just curious to know, where did you get this new character for Hainanese? Is there anything that just got published in a Chinese linguistics journal? The dog2 (talk) 06:06, 2 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

@The dog2: It comes from the way 广东省志‧方言志 writes it in Leizhounese, which should be cognate with the Hainanese word. Also see User:Justinrleung/PSM, where I connect it to Hokkien kheh/khoeh. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 06:10, 2 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Justinrleung: I see. I guess when you compare it with Teochew, it also matches the characteristic sound shift from Teochew to Hainanese, in particular from Jieyang Teochew. The dog2 (talk) 06:14, 2 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
@The dog2: Yes, exactly. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 06:16, 2 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
