[edit]@Justinrleung, The dog2 Should we be including 森林 here? A 森林 seems to be larger. To me, 樹林=woods, 森林=forest. RcAlex36 (talk) 04:33, 26 October 2020 (UTC)

- @RcAlex36: 樹林 can also mean forest. So in a sense they are synonymous. Many of our dialect tables have terms that are included even though there are subtle differences between them. For instance, if you look at the dialect table for 現在, there is actually a difference between 這陣 and 當今 in Singaporean Hokkien. - @RcAlex36, The dog2: We can translate both as "forest", but that doesn't really mean they're exactly the same. - @Mar vin kaiser: As I said at Module talk:zh/data/dial-syn/水果, that dictionary is based on the series and so dictionaries in the series should be taken as more informative. 萍鄉方言詞典 says in the entry for 樹山: "樹在平地難以成林...萍鄉没有與‘樹林’相對應的詞", and it does not list a sense that means "forest" under 樹. This is another instance of the sloppiness of 漢語方言學大詞典 when the data is compiled from other sources. — justin(r)leung { (t...) | c=› } 06:47, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
