Etymology

From the 1974 song "Jonny Controletti" by German musician Udo Lindenberg, seemingly formed from Kontrolle or kontrollieren and the suffix -etti, meant to resemble Italian surnames like Moretti or Marchetti.

  1. (humorous) a person policing or controlling the behavior of others, especially when perceived as excessive
