[edit]From Late Latin Fredulfi,[1] genitive of the personal name Fredulfus, from a Suevic or Gothic personal name, from Proto-Germanic *Friþuwulfaz, from *friþuz (“peace”) + *wulfaz (“wolf”).[2]
