refactoring verb templates

[edit]

ܐܢܐ - the following verbs are being conjugated in a way that can be improved. like more than one atuta is passed to an arg expecting a single atuta. let me know how u want to refactor the templates so we can clean it up cc: @Antonklroberts @Shuraya

I agree with you. They should have a separate conjugation to make searching for these types of verbs easier. ܐܢܐ (talk) 05:08, 25 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hey, I can take everything from the bottom ܚܪܒܫ to around the middle ܡܙܢܓܪ ܐܢܐ (talk) 04:21, 26 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
sonuds good, just took care of my share, thx for making https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Template:aii-conj-verb/Q-w ColumbaBush (talk) 05:05, 26 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Deleting S, Sh, Sh-w templates and replacing with their Q, Q-w equivalents

[edit]

ܐܢܐ, Antonklroberts, Shuraya

Sapel and Shapel are a type of Q-stem and in the UI we dont indicate to ppl which one it actually is, so we can just consolidate into a single template for simplicity sake

Also we can't tell whether a Q-stem verb is actually Sapel or Shapel without etymological indicators - this makes it not a good candidate for having their own templates since choosing the conjugation template needs to be based on what the 3rd person, non-past, masc form is

ie it needs to be deterministic not open to interpretation ColumbaBush (talk) 18:14, 5 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Sounds good, feel free to delete those templates I made ܐܢܐ (talk) 21:33, 5 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

verbal, instance and agent nouns, and also more participles

[edit]

@ܐܢܐ @Antonklroberts

I just expanded Template:aii-conj-verb to include verbal, instance and agent nouns, and also more participles. If you guys are able to update the conjugation templates which inherit from it (including Template:aii-conj-verb/atheh, Template:aii-conj-verb/azel and Template:aii-conj-verb/yavel) that would be really appreciated.

Also - I made the nouns optional (defaults to hyphen if value is not set) because I didn't know if C-stems should support them, however if that's not the case, let me know and I can make them required. ColumbaBush (talk) 13:16, 24 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

I also added the passive past, ex. "i defeated" is the active past but "i was defeated" is the passive past ColumbaBush (talk) 00:40, 25 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

renaming conjugation templates

[edit]

@ܐܢܐ @Antonklroberts @Shuraya

I renamed the conjugation templates to categorize them as either "strong" or "weak". If it's weak, then the radical's behavior (and position, if possible to determine) is specified, ex. 3i in Template:aii-conj-verb/C-weak-3i.

This isn't really consequential since the templates are invoked implicitly via Template:aii-conj but it's still helpful to have them more clearly named. ColumbaBush (talk) 13:42, 24 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
