Standardization
[edit]@DerekWinters I think we should standardize the dial-syn data pages on the Girnar dialect. (And maybe even lemmas, so we don't duplicate info?) It seems to be the most documented. —AryamanA (मुझसे बात करें • योगदान) 00:06, 7 February 2018 (UTC)
- @AryamanA: But to be fair, wouldn't it more effort to change the info to {{alternative form of...}}? Also, I'm not sure, I like having each being their own full lemma, especially because dialect's lemma should have a quote, and each gave rise to different Prakrits (note my edit recent edit in Gandhari). But also, you're the one doing most of the editing, so it is up to you. DerekWinters (talk) 00:10, 7 February 2018 (UTC)
- @DerekWinters: I don't think we should remove the quotes, not at all (see e.g. 𐨦𐨿𐨪𐨨𐨞 (bramaṇa) which has the same edict quoted as 𑀩𑁆𑀭𑀸𑀫𑁆𑀳𑀡 (brāmhaṇa)), I just don't want to have to mess with stuff like etymology and references for all of them. But yeah, since the dialects gave rise to different Prakrits, maybe you are right. There are also words with different etymologies like 𑀳𑀓𑀁 (hakaṃ) vs. 𑀅𑀳𑀁 (ahaṃ), and the etymology is necessary there. I'll think about it some more. —AryamanA (मुझसे बात करें • योगदान) 01:06, 7 February 2018 (UTC)
- That's fair, and references don't need to go in all of them I guess. DerekWinters (talk) 01:26, 7 February 2018 (UTC)
