Calque of Urdu آزاد جموں و کشمیر (āzād jammū̃ o kaśmīr, literally “free Jammu and Kashmir”), from آزاد (āzād, “free, independent”) + جموں (jammū̃) + و (o, “and”) + کشمیر (kaśmīr, “Kashmir”), from Persian.
