Etymology

[edit]

Extended form of -ecito, using the same formative -c- found in -cito, -cillo.

Suffix

[edit]

-cecito m (noun-forming suffix, plural -cecitos)

  1. Alternative form of -ecito; added to masculine nouns to form diminutives
    pie (foot) + ‎-cecito → ‎piececito (little foot)

Usage notes

[edit]
  • A rare suffix added to masculine words and names to denote a diminutive form. It occurs especially with words ending in a consonant or a vowel other than -o, and does not delete the final vowel (contrast with -ecito, which is added in place of a vowel that does get deleted).
