[edit]Inherited from Old East Slavic -чьнии (-čĭnii), cognate with Old Church Slavonic -щьнь (-štĭnĭ), Serbo-Croatian -ħӣ, Czech -ci, Slovene -č, Kashubian -ci, Upper Sorbian -cy, Lower Sorbian -cny, from Proto-Slavic *-ťь, cognate with Sanskrit -त्य (-tya), e.g. in अमात्य (amā́tya, “companion, member of household”).
