Usually compared to Common Slavic *lopata (β€œshovel”) and Lithuanian lΓ³peta (β€œshovel”), but these are rather Balto-Slavic derivations of a stem found in Lithuanian lΓ£pas (β€œleaf”) and Common Slavic *lopъ.
