[edit]From *h₂uh₁-ent-, oblique stem of Proto-Indo-European *h₂wéh₁n̥ts (“wind”). Cognates include Ancient Greek ἀέντα (aénta), Latin ventus, Gothic 𐍅𐌹𐌽𐌳𐍃 (winds), English wind.[1]
