From Proto-Anatolian [Term?], from Proto-Indo-European *h₃éh₁os (mouth). Cognates include Luwian 𒀀𒀀𒀸𒊭 (a-a-aš-ša /⁠āssa⁠/), Latin ōs (mouth), Sanskrit आस् (ās, mouth), Old English ōr (mouth) and Old Irish á (mouth).
