[edit]Inherited from Common Turkic *böŋre- (“to howl”). Cognate with Turkish böğürmek, Bashkir мөңрәү (möñrəw), Yakut маҥыраа (mañıraa, “to moo”). Compare also Proto-Mongolic *büxüre- (“to howl”), Proto-Tungusic *būni- (“to howl”).
