[edit]Inherited from Proto-Turkic *ȫgsiŕ, equivalent to 𐰇𐰏 (ög, “mother”) + 𐰾𐰔 (-süz, “-less”). Cognate with Old Uyghur 𐽰𐽳𐽶𐽷𐽻𐽳𐽴 (ögsüz), Turkish öksüz, Bashkir үкһеҙ (ükheź), Tuvan өскүс (ösküs).
