Etymology

Altered form of Proto-Germanic *sehtô (whence Old Norse sétti and Old High German sehto) with the *s inserted by analogy with 𐍃𐌰𐌹𐌷𐍃 (saihs, “six”). Identical in formation to Old English sixta and Old High German sehsto, and close to Koine Greek ἕκτος (héktos), which it translates.
