[edit]Part of an ancient /it/ root meaning "two", which was already largely extinct by fifteenth-century Middle Korean; cf. 이틀 (iteul, “two days”), 이듬 (ideum, “two years of age”), 이듭 (ideup, “second plowing of the fields”), 이태 (itae, “two agricultural years”).
