[edit]From Middle Mongol ᠡᠪᠴᠢᠭᠦᠨ (ebčigün, “breastbone”) (> Mongolian өвчүү (övčüü)) + 살 (sal, “flesh”), analyzable within Korean as 업진 (eopjin) + 살 (sal).
