Etymology
[edit]Univerbation of 불 (bul, “fire”) + 현 (hyeon, past adnominal of now archaic 혀다 (hyeoda, “to turn on a light, to light a fire”)) + 듯 (deut, “as if; appearance, likeness”, dependent noun): "as if one has lit a fire", in reference to the sudden glare of light.
