Etymology
[edit]관자(貫子) (gwanja, “headband ring placed above the temples in traditional headwear”) + 놀- (nol-, “to jolt, to twitch (dated)”) + -이 (-i, noun-deriving suffix).
When the pulse beats in the temples, the headband ring will jolt slightly: the temple is the "place where the 관자 (gwanja) jolts".
