Inherited from Old Javanese lontar, rontar, rontal, compound of ron (leaf) +‎ tal, tala (palm), from Sanskrit ताल (tāla, palm). Doublet of ꦫꦺꦴꦤ꧀ꦠꦭ꧀ (rontal).
