on'yomi |
Probably from Middle Chinese compound 風情 (MC pjuwng dzjeng). Compare modern Chinese 風情/风情 (fēngqíng).
The reading uses the older goon of fu for 風 and the newer kan'on of sei for 情, suggesting either that this term underwent changes after importation into Japanese, or that it may have been re-imported.
