- A blackish-brown pill used in traditional Chinese medicine "to remove heat, to relieve discomfort of the oropharynx, dissolving swelling and relieving pain, in the treatment of aphonia and hoarseness, dryness of the mouth and tongue, and cough due to dryness of the lungs".
