[edit]Compound of 空 (kara, “empty”) + 焚き (taki, “heating”, 連用形 (ren'yōkei, “stem or continuative form”) of the verb 焚く (taku, “to heat (as on a stove); to burn (as firewood)”).).[1][2] The taki changes to daki as an instance of rendaku (連濁).
